November 14, 2009 – Rm. Valcea, Romania.
I know Ionut for many years now, we attended the same church on Sundays while living in Rm.Valcea. And because of my older brother Emil and my parents who like him much, he’s been rather close to my family. Apart from being kind, and nice and always there to help, there is one thing really striking about him: he is such a romantic. I mean, really, such a romantic!
So when a friend of his told him ‘I have a cousin, let me send you a photo of her..‘ he knew it was a firm ‘No!‘ He just didn’t like the idea. Especially through the internet. No, he said, definitely not! Still, he had to be polite to his friend and accepted the photo. Well, that changed his mind instantly and he asked for her e-mail.Mirela, who was in Italy over the summer, felt just the same. ‘not right now..’ ‘huh.. not like this.. ‘
Yet, they started talking over the internet. They shared the same passion about things and life and God. By the time the summer was ending and Mirela was soon returning in the country, Ionut was decided. He visited her parents in Petrila about a month before she came back. And she was jealous of her parents and of her sisters for meeting him before her!
The months that followed must have been some good times. Every time I talked with my mother there was news of Ionut borrowing the car and taking a long weekend off [again!]. And then I heard about him cycling over the mountains to propose to her. The Valea Oltului route. Vidra Lake altitude of 1400m. 140km. over the Carpathian Mountains. [here you can see the route] Surely here mother was exaggerating! So I asked Ionut how did that happen, and he said ‘well, I went with my parents to see her parents, and I had the ring with me, and I held a nice speech, parents present, and she said yes. And on our way back home my mom just realized how I had the ring but did not give it. Well,it wasn’t that I forgot, I just didn’t find the moment special. So I came back the next day. By bike. Biked form early morning till 4pm. And there I was in my biking outfit- shades and cap, with white roses and a ring. And I kneeled . And, well…, she was shocked, and I think she didn’t recognize me at first…’
Their wedding day was all fun and relaxing. Mirela’s family is awesome. It was great to meet all her siblings and friends. They really made the day amazing! Thanks you all for your help and good times. On Facebook you can see more photos from the ceremony and soon I will also add some shots taken in the evening at the restaurant. See them here.

Today Ionut and Mirela came over to pick up the wedding album so I decided it is about time I start posting them. There is an enormous amount of photos so I will have to post them in 2 or 3 parts. Here are the first shots taken in the morning as Mirela was getting ready and her friends were singing in the next room. It was a relaxing day as the wedding started only at 4pm.

Last weekend I was in Valcea for Ionut and Mirela’s wedding. Ionut is an old friend who has helped me many times the passed years, so I was extremely happy and excited for him. it was a cozy autumn wedding, with nice people and lovely weather.
I am still working on the photos from their wedding, but here are a few from the week before when they were given the marriage certificate at the town hall.

I’m feeling dizzy today. I would have loved to post some special photos this weekend but I am not fit for being with the computer for too long. I’m really thankful for all the stories that you guys shared. And because they were all so personal, I decided all stories should be rewarded! So look forward to hearing from me these days. [thank you Andreea suggesting this!]. I’m happy to announce that Ruxandra is the winner of a dozen free post cards! This is what she wrote: “Am iesit de la aeroport si niciodata ambuteiajul de la Baneasa nu mi-a fost mai simpatic..” Thank you, Ruxandra!
Also, special congrats to Andu and Alexandra! hurray!
Now, posts are not cool without a photo, so here are a few Wednesdays shots:
#Early morning and a 11h sketch exam.
#I took with me a box of sweet candy to share with my new class mates, and hope for a colorful day.
#Alina surprised me with this postcard- old buildings from the town of Brasov.
#Gifts from Turkey.
#This came by mail. It made my day so special.
#Some may say that birthday wishes on the Facebook wall are lame, but I was happy.

I like flying. Particularly flying with Finnair. I take my seat at the window, a pillow and I read through the BlueWings magazine. It’s just so cozy. And the food is good. Minimal sometimes, but good. But the best part about flying is that it takes you to a different place- different weather, foods, people, streets, music, different colors.
Yesterday I flew back to Bucharest where I will be most of the time this year. (more…)
I’m spoiled.
By my husband who made this incredibly tasty evening snack to enjoy while watching ‘Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe’.
By God who keeps surprising me with amazing summer moments.
By rainy afternoons with noodle soup after a bike ride and evening king prawns.
I have been saving up the shots with all the summer’s tasty dishes with the intention to post them when getting back in Bucharest. But tonight’s treat has been too delicious..

July 25, 2009 – Constanta, Romania.
We met at Corina and Daniel’s wedding. In fact, we met the night before, as the last decorations were being arranged in the church. She was excited as soon it was to bee her wedding. At the end of the evening we caught the last rays of sun close to the Constanta Casino.
Thank you for this small escape.

June 14, 2009 – Costinesti, Romania.
This June i had the honor of attending Alina and Florin’s wedding.
Alina was one of the coolest brides. Not only did she plan a wedding on the beach, took care so many details to set the atmosphere of their sea-inspired wedding, but she also woke up early next morning for a memorable shoot at sunrise.

More of what we shot that morning here. (more…)
